Add text to 8 thin pagesContent quality and freshness · Writing and editing · A few hours
8 of your 24 main pages have fewer than 150 words. With so little text, Google cannot tell what a page is about or which searches it answers.
Fix: Start with the pages in the table. Add what a buyer wants to know before buying: what it is made of, size, how it is made, care, and who it suits. Aim for 150 to 300 words.
Link to your key pages from the footer, with clear link textInternal links · You can do this yourself · Under an hour
The footer appears on every page, but it links to only 3 content pages, and 6 of your most important pages are missing.
Fix: In your Shopify admin, open the footer menu (often under Navigation or Menus). Add links to the pages in the table, using the suggested link text: the words people search for, not "Shop" or "Read more".
Make the headings say what each page is aboutRelevance to the search · For your web developer · A few hours
Google reads headings (H1 to H6) as the outline of a page. On brightloomcoffee.com, 50 of the 125 headings we found are labels like "Join the roast club" and "Information", which repeat on every page or say nothing about its topic. They water down the words that do matter.
Fix: Labels that are part of the template, such as the cart, newsletter box, footer column titles and menus, should stay as they look but use normal text (for example a p or div with the same style) instead of a heading tag. Rewrite the generic headings in the page content so they say what the section offers, using the suggestions in the table as a start.
Link to 5 pages that nothing links toInternal links · Writing and editing · Under an hour
5 pages are in your sitemap, but none of the 26 pages we checked link to them. Visitors cannot find them, and Google treats them as unimportant.
Fix: For each page in the table, find one or two related pages, categories or posts. Add a link from them to the orphan page, with words that describe it.
Speed up the first view on phonesPage speed (Core Web Vitals) · For your web developer · A few hours
The main content takes about 5.1 seconds to appear (in a phone test); Google's target is 2.5.
Fix: Ask your developer to work through the PageSpeed Insights suggestions for the home page and the top product or post page.
Shrink the largest imagesPage speed (Core Web Vitals) · You can do this yourself · A few hours
15 images on your most-visited pages are over 400 KB each (21 MB together). Large images slow pages down on phones.
Fix: Re-export them at the size they are shown (usually under 2,000 pixels wide) as WebP or compressed JPEG, and re-upload.
Make the heaviest pages lighterPage speed (Core Web Vitals) · For your web developer · A few hours
1 of the pages we tested download 2.3 MB and make 343 separate requests before they are complete. On a phone connection, every request adds a delay.
Fix: Remove apps, plugins and tracking scripts that are no longer used; each one adds requests. Replace sliders and autoplay videos at the top of the page with one optimised image.
Fix titles that are cut off or say too littleClicks from the results page · You can do this yourself · Under an hour
3 titles are so short they do not say what the page offers, such as "The Journal". The title is the blue link people click in Google.
Fix: In your Shopify admin, open each page in the table and find the SEO title (sometimes called "page title" in the search preview settings). Rewrite it to 50 to 60 characters, with the main words first.
Describe images for Google and screen readersHousekeeping · You can do this yourself · A few hours
9 of 26 images on product pages have no description (alt text). Google Images and screen readers cannot tell what they show.
Fix: Add a short description to each product page image, saying what it shows, e.g. "Black walnut desk organizer with three cards".
